Matlock Fruit & Veg Scheme

The Matlock Mercury recently reported that a new fruit and veg scheme that has been launched in the local area was a huge success.
The program, which was launched at the Matlock Children’s Centre in partnership with the Derbyshire Dales CVS aims to make it easier for people to get their 5 portions of fruit and veg a day. The Children’s Centre is “committed to help families learn, succeed and live happily and children’s centres are part of this work.”
The fruit, veg and salad bags have been really popular and exceeding everyone’s sales expectations. The scheme allows people to pre-order the bags from the Children’s Centre which are then collected from a local farm on Monday Mornings.
At Cascades we have a small area of our Derbyshire Garden devoted to growing vegetables. All visitors who stay at Cascades have the opportunity to walk around and explore the garden. You can look round the vegetable patch and look at our fantastic selection of hellebores and herbaceous perennials.
